The spiritual world is as real as the physical world that we see, touch, and experience. In the spiritual realm, there are on-going battles that affect, stimulate, and achieve outcome in the physical world.
God gave David the wisdom to understand that his inner and outer man would find victory over conflicts and encounters through the Lord’s powerful ability to fight darkness and maintain dominion in spiritual spheres. In desperation David cried out to the Lord for help, and as a result, the host of heaven entered into spiritual battle. This spiritual battle was then manifested in the physical world through the weather: storms, winds, clouds, hailstones, thunder, and lightning. Because the Captain of the Lord of Hosts always fights for truth, righteousness, and humility, David triumphed over his enemies and gave all the credit to the Lord for the victory.
Today, as God’s people, we sometimes find ourselves struggling as David did, to carry on and endure the adversity and suffering we go through in the world. However, when we cry out to the Lord of Hosts as in the days of old, He enters into a spiritual battle on our behalf that will always lead to victory and triumph.
The next time the weather brings a rising storm, “look up, for your redemption draweth nigh”!
“He heard my voice out of His temple [heavenly dwelling place], He rode upon a cherub [a storm] and flew [swiftly]; yes, He sped on with the wings of the wind. As His pavilion [His canopy] round about Him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies. Out of the brightness before Him there broke forth through His thick clouds hailstones and coals of fire. The Lord also thundered from the heavens, and the Most High uttered His voice, amid hailstones and coals of fire. And He sent out His arrows and scattered them; and He flashed forth lightnings and put them to rout. He delivered me from my strong enemy and from those who hated and abhorred me, for they were too strong for me” (Psalm 18:6b, 10, 11b-14, 17).
