On the cross, Jesus Christ paid the price for fallen mankind’s sin, creating a bridge to re-unite us with our Holy God. Jesus overcame the negative power of Satan and defeated spiritual death, hell, and the grave. Through Jesus name we have been given the authority and opportunity to come out of bondage and discover spiritual enlightenment, physical healing, and emotional recovery. When we believe in Jesus through faith, the Holy Spirit connects with our spirit and lives within our hearts- giving us the power to receive all that the Lord has purchased for us through His death, burial and resurrection.
In 3John 2, John wrote Gaius, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers”. The health of our mind and soul, which includes our emotions, is connected to the health of our body. If our inner man is full of undealt with anger, hurt, fear, etc., it will set us up to become emotionally or physically sick. That is why it is of great importance to allow the Holy Spirit to put His powerful Truth, through the Logos of God’s Word into our hearts to activate transformation and healing within our inner man. God’s love is supreme, and when His love begins to heal and govern our spirits, we have the power to overcome sickness. At some point in our lives, the condition of our inner man will manifest itself, either negatively or positively onto our outer flesh man-“For as [a man] thinks in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7). We must also understand that our words are weighty, and they have power to bring life or release death (Proverbs 18:21). It is important to speak positive words of healing and Light! There are many such healing words of truth to be found in the Word of God. When you speak healing words, you offer yourself, and others fruit from the tree of life.
There are different types of healings:
When my mother left this earth and went to her heavenly home, my daddy had a dream. In the dream the Lord told Daddy that He had healed my mother, and her healing was complete. Daddy woke up, as the phone rang and the call came from the hospital saying mother had passed on. She was truly alive and totally healed! God’s ways and man’s ways are very different, because God’s ways are higher and purer than ours. I believe He longs for us to understand that He wants to help us not hurt us, as we learn to surrender and release all to His eternal, loving plan. Then in turn, we will be able to accept His love, peace, and comfort while we walk in on this earth, and into the hereafter. Because of Jesus, our future is bright and filled with a living hope that will never fade away.
When I was thirty-eight, and a Christian, I developed asthma which made it hard for me to breath. At the time, I did not know about the authority and power I possessed through Jesus Christ to overcome sickness. I felt overwhelmed and helpless against this disease, as I depended on steroids to keep breathing. This went on for five years-until I was enlightened after reading a book about healing. I started taking up my authority in Jesus’ name by speaking to the asthma, telling it to let go and leave my body. I understood that verbalizing this type of believing, positive, prayer begins the healing process. I felt empowered and spoke to the Enemy in Jesus Name that he had no entitlement to put this disease on me or to be any part of me. I confessed, “I receive my healing.” I stood in faith, taking the authority that Jesus had given me for healing. Even when the symptoms of asthma still manifested, I believed that all symptoms of this disease would increasingly be gone. Progressively I got better, and I used my medicines less and less. In time, I didn’t need my meds anymore, and my physical healing was totally manifested. The Lord also showed me some emotional issues that needed to be looked at and released that were attached to the physical symptoms of asthma. I have now been healed from asthma for 23 years, and I am thankful that God’s healing love and power is available today!
Sometimes, God uses doctors to bring healing. The Holy Spirit has given the church the gift of healing, and the prayer of faith will save the sick.
I don’t claim to have all the step-by-step answers about God’s healing, because I don’t believe we can put God in that kind of a box. Sometimes healing does not come immediately, but later. Sometimes healing does not come because of our need for growth. But all experience is for our good, and sometimes it takes what we would consider negative experience to help develop our spirits. But even suffering because of sickness will not prevent God from helping a person discover how to live in a better way while living on temporary earth. God is merciful and compassionate.
“Surely He has borne our griefs [sicknesses, weaknesses, and distressed] and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy]. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain peace] and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole” (Isaiah 53:4-5).
“When evening came, they brought to Him many who were under the power of demons, and He drove out the spirits with a word and restored to health all who were sick. And thus He fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, He Himself took [in order to carry away] our weaknesses and infirmities and bore away our diseases” (Matthew 8: 16-17).
