In wisdom and love God calls us to open our hearts and cast our anxieties, worries, and concerns onto Him. The dictionary states that the word casting is a verb meaning “to throw something away from yourself.” Yet sometimes we feel stuck in our worries, as we struggle to open our hearts and cast the fears and feelings attached to our problems on Him. But in spite of this negative emotional and spiritual clamor, Christ wants to help us work through, and let go of all the layers of worry, and the emotions attached to them, so we can be free to walk in faith, hope, and love. Many times the Spirit speaks through simple pictures to help us learn how to move forward spiritually. Through experience, the Lord has taught me how to cast my care on Him. In the beginning of learning how to let go, the Spirit instructed me to literally open my physical hands while I poured out my heart to God in prayer. Our open hands are a picture of our hearts, which helps us believe by giving us a visual focal point as we talk to God. Literally opening our hands as we pray symbolically represents the heart that is open to God for help and care. Open hands…Open heart…Letting go…..Giving God our anxieties, worries, and concerns; because He affectionately cares.
“Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully” (1Peter5:7).
