Jesus calls those who are overwhelmed, overburdened, and struggling to come to Him to find help. He offers Himself as the way out for struggling human beings to find rest, even as they are living in this stressful world. When we have labored long and feel physically exhausted or emotionally and mentally depleted, His gentle call is, “Come to me. I will help you find relief.” Because of His great love, the Lord is always concerned about the state of our minds and hearts. If we are “going under,” it is Jesus’ desire to continuously lift us up with His grace. But during trying times, negativity will often pull at our hearts with lies-God doesn’t care about me; God is punishing me; God is like all the other people who have hurt me- and our faith in a loving God derails along the road of bitterness and unbelief. Nevertheless, Jesus continues to call, and we must make the choice to turn to Him for help-or to keep listening to the negative thoughts that will lead us to try to figure things out apart from Him. Listen to His call today: “Come to Me, and I will cause you to rest. I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.” (Matthew 11:28)
