When we have a real relationship with Jesus, we can go to Him and be honest about our feelings; whether they are good, bad, or ugly. Because of God’s love toward us, which is bigger than all our fear, anger, and hurt, we do not have to be afraid of being rejected or pushed away by Him when we fall short. Jesus Christ gave Himself so that the world could find self-forgiveness and self-acceptance within the boundaries of His pure love. But even when we connect with God and are able to love Him, ourselves, and others, we can still get pulled off the positive path of faith and get pushed toward the negative highway of weary unbelief. Perhaps we have been praying and waiting for the answer for a long time, or maybe we’ve recently been counting on God to take care of things; then suddenly we are overwhelmed with oppressive circumstances or people, and we find ourselves wearily dominated by negative thoughts and unbelief. At this point, we don’t need to beat ourselves up for not being positive; We must choose to run back to God with our overwhelmed, negative hearts and pour them out on Him. Remember, we cannot work things out by ourselves. We need God’s help, and He desires to help us! No Matter how negative we become, we cannot disappoint God because He already knows what we will do before we do it. It is God’s will to replace our negativity with hope in Him, as we wait expectantly for Him to answer us, lift our sad countenance, and move us to the place of praise!
“I will say to God my Rock, Why have You forgotten me? Why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? Why are you cast down, O my inner self? And why should you moan over me and be disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, Who is the help of my countenance, and my God” (Psalm 42:9,11).
