Fear is a powerful emotion that will defeat us spiritually, emotionally, and physically as we struggle to survive the challenges in our lives. Feelings of fear can motivate us to make bad decisions or cause us to panic about our present or future way of life. Sometimes when we’re afraid, we are able to run to Jesus, tell Him all about it, let go of the feeling of fear, and believe that God will work things out for us. At other times in spite of our best efforts, fear seems to overthrow our settled trust in God. However Jesus experienced and understands our struggles, and He is willing and able to lead us down the path that will prevail over being defeated by fear. The prerequisite for taking our first step on this path is to humble ourselves, and become like a child; holding tight to the hand of our good “Daddy Jesus.” He is a kind Father and will not let go or leave His precious, fearful children. Then, as we continue to move forward in spite of feeling afraid, our good Father will give us the courage to remain on the path with Him. Next, we will come to a place on the path where we must try to trust Him just a little bit. Trust is a step that comes before believing, and it helps us to learn that we can rely on God to bring us safely through our journey. When we are afraid, let’s remember to run to “Daddy Jesus.” He is there for us through our hardest struggles.
“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee” (Psalm56:3)
