A very large crowd followed Jesus, because they were intrigued, by watching Him perform signs, wonders, and many miracles of healing the sick. When Jesus walked up the mountain, he saw the vast crowd who followed and wanted to be near Him. He then asks the disciples, “Where are we to buy bread, so that all these people may eat?” He already knew the answer! Because there was a young boy in the crowd, who had five barley loaves and two fish, who wanted to share it with those in need. Jesus took the loaves and fish, then blessed and gave thanks to God the Father! Miraculously the food was multiplied, and the crowd was abundantly fed, and there were leftovers! When the people saw the miracle that Jesus had performed, they began saying, “Surely and beyond a doubt this is the Prophet Who is to come into the world!” They wanted to take Jesus and set up Him up to be their earthly King (John6:15amp). He then slipped away from the crowd, because Jesus knew the time of liberating Israel had not yet come, and His Father had sent Him to liberate mankind, by giving them new hearts! The next day, when the crowds finally found Him, Jesus said, “Let me make this very clear, you came looking for me because I fed you by a miracle, not because you believe in me. Why would you strive for food that is perishable and not be passionate to seek the food of eternal life, which never spoils? I, the Son of Man, am ready to give you what matters most, for God the Father has destined me for this purpose” (John6:26-27tPt). He said, “The Bread of God comes down from heaven and gives life to the world”. The crowd replied, Lord give us this bread, and He said, “I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to Me will never be hungry, and he who believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me will never thirst anymore. I have come down from heaven not to do My own will and purpose but to do the will and purpose of Him Who sent Me. For it is My Father’s will and His purpose, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Him should have eternal life, and I will raise them up in the last days” (John6:33,35,38,40amp).” I speak to you living truth: Unite your heart to me and believe-and you will experience eternal life! I am the true Bread of Life. I alone am this Living Bread that has come to you from heaven. Eat this Bread and you will live forever. The Living Bread I give you is my body, which I will offer as a sacrifice so that all may live. For my body is real food for your spirit and my blood is real drink” (John6:47-48,55-57 tPt). Then many of Jesus’ disciples and followers became offended with His teachings! Dr Brian Simmons footnote for John6:54tPt explains, “To eat his flesh is to take into our life by faith all that Jesus did for us by giving his body for us. To drink his blood is to take by faith all that the blood of Jesus has purchased for us. This “eating” and “drinking” is receiving the life, power, and virtue of all that Jesus is to replace all that we were in Adam. Jesus’ blood and body is the Tree of Life, which is offered to everyone who follows him”. Jesus Christ is the “Bread of Life” who brings lasting satisfaction to the longing soul, saves the lost, and transforms our hearts and minds, by uniting us into One Spirit with Him! He is the True Bread of Life that offers the gift of abundant and eternal life to those who love and follow Him! f
