We all have experienced circumstances in our lives that have broken our hearts. The weight of a broken heart hurts and is filled with wounds. Just like an infected sore fills with pus; wounds of the heart are filled with fear, sadness, and anger. Our spiritual Enemy feeds off these negative emotions and uses them to keep us bound and broken. Whether we are carrying these negative emotions consciously or unconsciously, the result will be the same; a tendency to fall into the abyss of self-pity, depression, or hopelessness. As we continue to experience all the negative energy, it becomes more and more difficult to resist the downward spiral. Yet in the middle of our pain and sorrow, the Lord gives up hope and promises us there will be a new day and a new beginning for those who will turn to Him for help and healing. He promises to heal our broken heart, bind up our wounds, and cure our pain and sorrow.
Sometimes it is trying to have faith in God, especially when our emotional energy feels so pessimistic and downbeat. But the truth is this: we are not alone, He is close and feels the pain with us, Jesus is on our side. He will clean out the infection of negativity in our wounded hearts, as we release the hurt and anger to Him. Gradually, as the Lord works on replacing and filling the wounds of our broken hearts with His love and joy, the miracle of healing takes place; where abundant life is discovered and embraced through Jesus Christ.
No matter how hard the circumstance or how broken our hearts, He promises to bring us to a new place where positive energy, spiritual enlightenment, and a living relationship with Him reign and govern our lives as we live one day at a time.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [curing their pains and their sorrow]” (Psalm 147:3).
