Psalm 55:22
Cast your burden on the Lord (releasing the weight of it) and He will sustain you: He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail).
Many times as we assess our responsibilities and duties as a parent, a student or at our job we feel weighed down with worry and anxiety. With our hearts in this burdened condition we tend to plummet into a panicked state together with the foreboding belief that something bad is going to happen. We fear the heaviness of our burden is going to cause us to blunder, go down, or be unsuccessful. We also understand there is a whole heap of feelings including fear, anger and hurt wrapped up in our burdens. In spite of that our Lord tells us to continuously cast our burdens on Him for it is His will to release us from the weight. So not only do we petition the Lord for what is needed but we must also cast our feelings on the Lord. When we release sadness (by crying) and anger (by feeling it) on Jesus the weight is transferred from us to Him. This clears our heart making room for His sustaining power. He promises those that accept the sufficiency of His completed work on Calvary (which makes us consistently righteous in God’s sight) will not be defeated by the weight of our burdens.
