It’s not always easy to believe that God wants to bestow His goodness on you, especially during prolonged, difficult, demanding, challenging, tough times. The unhealed wounds in your heart that hold layers of unprocessed hurt and anger will give an opening to the Enemy, to plant negative thought patterns, and bombard your mind with hopelessness, self-pity, fear, or condemnation. The negative thoughts speak – things will never change for the better….I feel overwhelmed and defeated…. What’s the use, I might as well give up…. I don’t care…I deserve this. This dark negativity left unchallenged by the light will create depression.
But David said, “What, what would have become of me had I not believed that I would see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living!” Your loving Lord Jesus wants to bestow his goodness on you and longs to listen to your words, as you pour out the anger and hurt in your broken heart onto Him. He will gradually heal you, by replacing all the negative mess in your heart and mind with His healing love, the Spirit of Truth, and the Logos of the Word of God. He will supernaturally renew your hope and lift you up on high and defend you from the enemy, as you begin to experience the goodness and glory of the Lord. The Lord desires to gift you with His amazing grace which will strengthen you, and help you walk through the challenges of life one day at a time. But God’s timing and ways are very different from our timing and ways. God has higher thoughts and intentions for you, His precious child, and they are always in the process of being worked out. It is hard to understand the bigger picture, purposes, and good plans that He is working into our lives, so we must walk in powerful, positive faith. You do not have to wait until you go to heaven to know and experience the Lord’s goodness! He wants you to find out who He really is while living on this earth so you can accept as true His freeing forgiveness and salvation, as His favor, grace, acceptance, love, goodness, and mercy gradually permeate into your heart and soul. When you discover who He really is, you will be able to discover who you really are- an overcoming beloved child of the living God!
“[What, what would have become of me] had I not believed that I would see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living!” (Psalm 27:13).
