Many people believe if they love God and love others things will go easy for them in this world. However, the reality is;while we reside on this imperfect planet, no one is exempt from experiencing times of difficulty, and disappointment. Our Lord Jesus told His disciples, whom He loved, that they would encounter troubles and problems on this earth. After making this seemingly depressing statement, Jesus spoke out with great optimism, telling His followers to cheer up. That is, He directed them to be brave, positive, firm, fearless, and undisturbed- because He had overcome the world! By overcoming the world, Jesus has conquered the negative power that seeks to harm and defeat us in the midst of tribulation and trials. Subsequently, He has defeated the Enemy and has the ability to use our trials and tribulations to create positive and progressive spiritual development in our hearts. Life is a school! So remember, if you are struggling with hard times, take courage; be confident and certain that God has the power to work out the present and what lies ahead, for your good. Because He overcame, we can draw from His grace and overcome whatever seeks to defeat us in our fallen world.
“In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you]”(John 16:33b).
