Because of the many challenges we are facing, as a result of the pandemic, many are filled with dread, anxiety, fear, and even terror. There are health fears, financial fears, and fears about the many changes taking place that will drastically alter and effect our way of life. These gnawing thoughts and feelings seem to be bombarding the minds and hearts of many people.
When our hearts and minds are full of all these negative worries, there seems to be no room for God’s Truth, nor the ability to live and walk by faith. Have you ever tried to pour water into a glass that is already full? If so, then you know what happens: the water spills over the sides. The glass cannot contain the new water because it is full! So, it is with our hearts. God desires to pour His love, peace, joy, hope, faith, and courage into our hearts, even in the middle of the chaos, but our hearts are so full of worries, fears, disappointments, and hurts, there are no room for God’s powerful gifts of the Spirit. The circumstances have pushed up what’s truly in our hearts, to the surface, but God wants us to release this negative, so we will be able to receive and be filled with the beautiful gifts that the Spirit longs to give those who will open their hearts.
So how do we pour out the negative and make room for God’s positive? We begin by talking to our Beloved Jesus about what we are really feeling. The important factor is that we must feel what we are pouring out in prayer to Him, to truly let go and release our negative fears. As this way of praying becomes more familiar, we will gradually find Him replacing the negative in our hearts with His healing ointment, which causes His love, peace, joy, hope, increased faith, and courage to be experienced in our lives. Remember, God is the place of safety to run to when our hearts feel overwhelmed, He will see us through to a better place!
“Trust in, lean on, rely on, and have confidence in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is a refuge for us
[a fortress and a high tower]
Selah” (Psalm62:8amp).
“Pour out your heart-longings to him. Believe me when I tell you-he will help you!” (Psalm62:8tPt).
