Sometimes in our Christian walk, we are confident and keep on keeping on as we stand strong and firm in our faith. At other times, during everyday living or trying circumstances, we stumble over the weakness of our human condition, and our faith seems to falter. At this place of human vulnerability, it is so easy for us to give in and be taken over by the negative feelings that still reside in our soul – weariness and discouragement.
The good news is that, even though our feelings continually change, God is always the same-loving, stable, and committed to helping His children overcome their weariness and discouragement as they live in this imperfect world. He wants to help us move forward in our healing journey of faith. We cannot conquer weariness and discouragement on our own. We need God to work this miracle! As we see how desperately we need the Lord’s help, we will begin to look to Him in expectation and hope that He will bring us into a better physical, emotional, or spiritual state. The Holy Spirit desires to plant powerful seeds of positive, strengthening, truth, and hope in our minds and hearts.
God promises us that as we wait for Him, He will change us by renewing our strength and power and drawing us close to Himself. It is His work to change us; it is our choice to wait, expect, and look for Him. There is no depth of weariness or discouragement that is too deep for our Lord’s healing, delivering touch to reach. As we continually surrender our lives and plans to God, we will be given the power and strength to live a victorious life while on this earth.
“He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound]. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and [selected] young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted. But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired” (Isaiah 40:29-31).
