When we open our hearts to receive God’s grace, He has many valuable gifts to give us that will help overcome fear. We cannot overcome fear on our own, but because Christ has given all believers the gift of the Holy Spirit, we are not alone; the Helper is living inside our hearts to give us aid! But the spirit of fear is prevalent in our world, and is not from God; bringing torment. Fear is a thief that attempts to rob us of being able to depend and believe in the faithfulness of our loving, caring, God. Experientially growing, and abiding in God’s unconditional love gives us the power to let go of fear. Love is more powerful than evil and that includes fear! God has so much to give us; the gifts of power….love….and calm and well-balanced mind…..discipline….and self-control. He longs for His children to believe that He really loves them and that His powerful Spirit, united and working within our spirit, can overcome any negative opposition that attempts to bring us into bondage.
“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity [of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear], but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control” (2Timothy1:7).
