In our humanness, the thought of suffering is troubling! Nonetheless suffering will come to all of us while living on this earth. Of course we are naturally afraid of undergoing suffering because it hurts! Even though the Bible clearly tells us that HE is able to use suffering and work good into our lives, it is hard to actually grasp that anything positive can come out of struggling. The experience of suffering will always cause change- we will become better or bitter, depending on what we choose to do with our pain. If we choose to hold on to our anger/frustration, because of suffering, we will get stuck in bitterness and self-pity. This state will easily turn us into negative thinkers with a cynical, doom-and-gloom outlook. On the other hand, if we keep choosing to humble ourselves and give Jesus the anger and fear in our hearts, we will find grace to help in our time of need, and we will grow in faith and dependence on God. As we cling to Jesus for support during suffering, sooner or later the experience and reality of God’s love will grow in our hearts. We will understand we are not suffering alone, Jesus is with us and will help us feel and let go of the pain, finally surrendering it all to Him. Surrendering everything to God brings freedom! Always remember that God is a partner in our suffering…we are never alone.. and all things work together and are fitting into a plan for good for those who love God and are called according to His design and purpose!
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time [this present life] are not worth being compared with the glory that is about to be revealed to us and in us and for us and conferred on us!”(Romans8:18).
