At times we all focus on or act out thoughts and emotions that stem from something we believe to be the truth about ourselves, even though it isn’t. For example, if a child is told they are stupid, ugly, worthless, etc., they will believe that is who they are, even though it is a lie, and not the truth. To some extent ,we all have negative patterns that have been set up in our lives as a result of the emotions attached to our…..
Fear is not from God, in fact He wants to give us the opposite- His spirit of love. As we grow in our relationship with Jesus, we will begin to believe that God is on our side. Jesus is not out to hurt us but out to help us know Him for who He truly is – the God of love, not the God of condemnation. When we recognize His goodness, it is easier to trust Him, even when we are afraid……
A woman who had suffered a “sickness” for years, and visited many doctors – without success – was still searching for help. She heard that a man called Jesus had the ability and desire to restore health to people in need, like her. She sought Him among the crowds, believing that if she could just touch the fringe of His garment, she would be healed. Her plan was to touch Him, and quietly receive her healing, then leave. Contrary to her plan, when…..
There are many people, in spite of having a living relationship with Jesus, that feel as if their spiritual breath(life) has been smothered. So it was with the prophet Elijah! The hand of the Lord was on Elijah as he spoke truth to Israel in order to turn their hearts back to God and to help them recover from the destructive patterns of the spirit of Baal. On Mt. Carmel, Elijah experienced mighty spiritual victory over the power and prophets of Baal……
As we struggle through the challenges of life, many people believe that God does not truly connect with our humanness. But this is so far from the truth, because God sent His son Jesus, to live in and experience this world. In the town of Bethany, Jesus had three dear friends, two sisters Mary and Martha and their brother Lazarus. While Jesus was away in another city, Lazarus died, and the sisters were grief stricken. When Jesus returned to find the two grieving, brokenhearted sisters, He wanted to help them. Martha’s personality was…..
Like the arrival of a sudden storm at sea, we will all experience times of unexpected difficulty and trouble in our lives. Whatever the problem may be, we as God’s children usually exert great effort to trust in God’s faithfulness to see us through the struggle. But because of the unhealed wounds in our hearts, we are vulnerable to the Enemy’s attack, and Satan uses his biggest weapons of fear and doubt to set up unbelief in our hearts and minds. …..
Most of us are so afraid of having an encounter with hardship, loss, or disappointment; that we are blinded to the benefits that can be derived from experiencing grief. When we experience big sorrow, it gives us an opening to learn to experience bigger and more joy! This is a spiritual paradox and brings hope to those who suffer! When we go through difficulty, we often tend to grit our teeth and try to hold ourselves together as we continue…..
God created tears as an integral part of healing the heart. When Jesus saw Mary and Martha crying over their brother’s death, He wept. That is, Jesus felt their pain and cried with them, helping release the heavy burden of their loss. When we experience loss it wounds our hearts, and the emotional components of hurt and anger, like a hand and glove, are layered in the wound. Just like a physical wound must be opened to let the infection…..
In the Bible the Lord compares His children to sheep because we share many similarities, especially the being afraid part. Fear is a common thread that touches all of our lives, regardless of our spiritual maturity. We often transfer our past fears and fears of the future onto today. Then we struggle with the torment this fear brings, and there seems no escape from its dominating presence. Fear, the opposite of love, is Satan’s greatest tool to keep us from…..
Sometimes we know we are angry, and at other times we are unwilling to recognize and own the anger in our hearts. We may have developed a fear of anger during childhood because we observed someone acting out anger inappropriately, and we do not want to behave like them. Or we could have the false belief that the emotion of anger is totally bad, so we push it down, and deceive ourselves into denying that we are angry. Anger is…..
